South  Africa's Bishop Tutu Gets a Gift From The Dalai Lama བོད་སྐད།

Archbishop Desmond Tutu received a spiritual leadership award and a gift from Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at Freedom Park in Pretoria on Saturday.

After Tutu was granted the spiritual leadership award by an organization called Humanity's Team, it was announced at the Dalai Lama had also sent him a gift. The representative of the Dalai Lama then draped a white scarf around his shoulder.

Mr. Tutu has praised the Dalai Lama for his lifelong struggle for human rights and justice for the Tibetans as well as all human being on this earth.

Also the Democratic Alliance has dared the ruling party to invite the Dalai Lama to the presidential inauguration on May 9. "The Dalai Lama is a head of an exiled government and a champion of human rights which should suitably qualify him to attend the event." said DA deputy Foreign Affairs spokesman Joe Seremane in a statement yesterday. “If the government was genuine in its earlier assurance that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is welcome to visit SA in future, it must do the right thing and invite him to the presidential inauguration. " If it fails to do so it must explain its reasons," Seremane said.
