Kazakhstan and China signed a series of cooperation deals following talks between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing Thursday.
The 10 agreements included pledges of cooperation in the key energy and credit sectors.
The energy deal called for expanding ties in oil and gas production worth five billion dollars. The two nations also agreed to a credit line of another five billion dollars between the Kazakh Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China.
The official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, reported that during the talks, the Kazakh president supported the Chinese government's position on Taiwan and Tibet. China has resisted efforts by Tibet for greater autonomy, and insists Taiwan is part of China.
