Xinhua: 1 Dead, 2 Injured in China Bombing བོད་སྐད།

Chinese state media say one man has been killed and two others injured in a bombing in an office building in the northwestern Xinjiang region.

The Xinhua news agency says a man detonated the bomb Thursday, killing himself after walking into the office of a construction company in the regional capital, Urumqi, and demanding $662 in unpaid wages.

Investigators have identified the bomber as Han Wushun. Xinhua says Han had sued the company last year for the unpaid wages but lost the case.

Police say Han set off his explosives as two workers tried to flee.

Xinjiang is dominated by Uighur Muslims who complain of being marginalized since Chinese communist forces entered the region in 1949.

However, the French news agency says the incident does not appear to be linked to ethnic unrest in Xinjiang, where Uighur Muslims have waged a battle for independence.
