Bangalore, India that the Dalai Lama gave a special advice to Bhutanese students. “As traditional study of Tibetan Buddhism is the common heritage of Himalayan people including Bhutanese, therefore, the modern education must be combined by traditional study of Buddhist culture and values,” the Dalai Lama said to a group of Bhutanese students after the consecration of TCV college in Bangalore on 16 February 2009. His Holiness further added that the significance of traditional study of Tibetan Buddhism is also “the identity of the Himalayan people.”
All the Bhutanese students who have come along with Tibetans gathered at the consecration ceremony of TCV college feel blessed and elated “I was very much surprised, because, I never thought that Bhutanese students will be given such a privilege. I am blessed.” says Saroj Kumar Roy, a final year student of Bachelor of Business Management in Bangalore University from Thimbu, Bhutan. Another Bhutanese student Tshering Doje said “After having received the blessings, I didn’t feel any difference between Bhutanese and Tibetan, though we are in a different country. Every thing is actually same.” There are around 100 Bhutanese students studying in Bangalore University including 2 Tibetan students who have settled in Bhutan.
