Chinese police are hunting for a man suspected of masterminding a counterfeit drug ring that helped put fake diabetes drugs on the market in China.
The fake drug has been linked to the deaths of at least two people in northwestern China's Xinjiang province.
Chinese authorities already have arrested five people in connection with the sale of the drug, but they say Li Dong, a native of northeastern China's Liaoning province, is now their prime suspect.
The official Xinhua news agency says Li is believed to have sold the fake drug to many places in China.
Authorities say that in addition to 10-thousand bottles that were found in Xinjiang, more than five thousand other bottles of the fake drug have been found in two other provinces Qinghai and Sichuan.
