Tibetan Rights Group Releases 2008 Human Rights Report in Tibet བོད་སྐད།


The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy released today 2008 Human Rights report in Tibet at a press conference in Dharmsala.

The director Mr. Ogyan Tenzin says more than 200-page report was a compilation of reports from different sources in Tibet and other places. He says during demonstrations in all three regions of Tibet and aftermath at least 120 Tibetans killed, 6, 500 arrested and 10 died owing to torture and 190 Tibetans sentenced from nine months to life imprisonment. Mr. Tenzin also underscored that only 627 Tibetans have managed to escape to India in 2008. He called on China to respect the fundamental human rights of Tibetans.
