Chinese Protesters Attack Police Station over Motorist's Death བོད་སྐད།

Chinese state media say protesters have attacked a police station in southern China after a motorcyclist died while trying to avoid a police checkpoint.

The Xinhua news agency says about 400 protesters threw stones and set fire to a police car outside the station in Shenzhen Friday as about two-thousand people watched. The violence last until early Saturday morning.

The protesters gathered after relatives of the motorcyclist carried his body to the police station. The victim died of injuries he sustained when he crashed into an electrical pole after a police officer threw a radio at him.

Shenzhen is an industrial coastal city just across the border from Hong Kong.

China regularly sees protests by citizens frustrated with local officials' abuse of power, as well as some businesses' drive for profits at the expense of workers' well being.
