China Sentences 55 for Roles in Tibetan Riots བོད་སྐད།

On Tuesday, a senior Chinese government official in Tibet said 55 people have been sentenced over their involvement in the protests in the capital, Lhasa.

On March 14th, peaceful protests against Chinese rule erupted into violence in Lhasa and quickly spread to other Tibetan-inhabited areas in China.

China launched a massive crackdown in response to the unrest, which Chinese officials say killed 22 people.

Tibet's government-in-exile says 218 Tibetans were killed and nearly seven thousand were detained during the crackdown
