Landslide Destroys 18 Tibetan Shops in Shimla, India . The landslide was caused by heavy downpour in northern India. The market below Gandhi ground on Rivoli road has 105 shops, 76 of which are owned by Tibetans. However, no casualties to Tibetans have been reported.

The Tibetans held a meeting Friday to discuss ways to help the affected families. Talking to VOA Tsetan Dhondup, the president of the Tibetan Freedom Movement, Simla, and Ngawang Norbu, President Welfare Association said the estimate of the loss to property can not be given as yet. He said that the Tibetans are now evacuating the remaining shops of the market as heavy downpour continues in the region.
