Police Search for Escaped Convicts in Nepal བོད་སྐད།

Police are searching for some 50 inmates who escaped from a jail in southern Nepal.

Prisoners overpowered guards during roll-call Wednesday night in the town of Siraha, about 150 kilometers from Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.

One inmate was shot and killed by police, and five prisoners were quickly recaptured. Authorities have launched a massive search to find the remaining convicts.

Siraha is located in Nepal's southern plains, where a number of small insurgent groups are fighting for regional autonomy.
