March to Tibet Activists Welcomed by the Tibetans in New Delhi བོད་སྐད།


58 Tibet bound Tibetans consisting 45 monks who tried to cross over to Tibet through Spiti valley were given a warm reception by the Tibetans in Delhi. The activists led by Serje Shingza Tulku were arrested by Indo-Tibet Border Police at Tabo in Spiti valley on August 4, 2008 when they attempted to march to Tibet. Tabo is around 28 km from the border.

"All the activists are from those who have earlier participated in the "March to Tibet". They were stopped at Dharchula, the last Indian village bordering Tibet in Uttarkhand in June." says Shingza Tulku during the reception function held at Samyeling Tibetan camp.

He continued that the whole thing came to light when Tenzin Tsundue was arrested immediately after landing at Bhuntar airport in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh on August 3, 2008. He was taken to Mandi jail where he sat for hunger strike without food and water. On the fourth day, he was forcibly shifted to hospital for medical care by the local police.
