A Statement issued this morning Dharmsala responded to China's allegation that the Dalai Lama is attempting to restore what they call Tibet's old feudal system. Dharmsdala says this allegation is totally baseless, and in fact, since coming into exile in 1959, the Dalai Lama has been trying to establish a democratic system of government in exile and now the head of the government in exile is elected by the people. The Dalai Lama has said several times that he has no desire to hold a political position when exiled Tibetans return to Tibet after resolving the Sino-Tibetan problems.
