Police have detained 450 Tibetan exiles for demonstrating in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.
Authorities arrested the group of mostly Buddhist monks and nuns Saturday after they held a protest against Chinese rule over Tibet. Police say they used bamboo batons to forcibly detain demonstrators -- dragging them to nearby police vans.
Tibetan exiles in Nepal were holding almost daily protests in Kathmandu since March, when deadly clashes broke out between protesters and Chinese authorities in their homeland, Tibet.
The group temporarily suspended demonstrations in Nepal after the earthquake in China, but restarted protests last week.
Nepal, which regards Tibet as part of China, is home to some 20-thousand Tibetan refugees.
