Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Criticize Tibetan Protesters and Nepal Government བོད་སྐད།

On Monday, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin urged the Nepal government to take strict action against the separatist Tibetans demonstrating in Katmandu, Nepal newspapers reported on Tuesday.

At an interaction at ‘Reporters ‘Club Nepal’, Chinese ambassador said, “The activities of these monks and nuns should be clearly defined and they should not be allowed to participate in political activities”. He had added that Tibetan monks and nuns residing in Nepal are engaged in politics rather than in cultural activities. There is no meaning of arresting demonstrators in the afternoon and releasing them in the evening. UN staffers are present at demonstrations. This is a serious violation of UN charter.

On May 13, 2008 afternoon, about 200 Tibetan protestors carried a protest in front of Chinese Consulate in Katmandu and they were arrested. Out of 200 protestors, about 40 Tibetans are from Pokhara Tibetan settlements.
