The wife of a Chinese human rights lawyer says he is missing, prompting fears that he has been secretly detained.
Teng Biao's wife says he failed to arrive at their Beijing apartment Thursday night after calling to say he was heading home from his office.
Wang Ling says she saw their car when she went down to investigate a noise, but did not see her husband. She says someone saw a man being dragged into a car and taken away.
Teng Biao is a close friend of Hu Jia, an outspoken civil rights activist who is being held on charges of subversion. Hu Jia spent much of last year under house detention.
Teng has also openly criticized China's human rights record as the Beijing Olympic Games approach.
