The Dalai Lama sent a condolence message to Mrs. Annette Lantos, the wife of the late Congressman Tom Lantos. The Dalai Lama said in a personal letter to Mrs. Lantos, "I am deeply saddened to hear the passing away of your husband, Congressman Tom Lantos. I would like to express my heartfelt condolences and sympathies to you and to members of your family. In him we have lost a friend who committed his life to the promotion of human rights, freedom and justice, and who was a great sources of hope and inspiration to the Tibetan people. As I recently wrote him, I would like to repeat my deep gratitude for his unstinting support for and dedication to the Tibetan cause." Tibetans in the Washington DC area held a special prayer session for the late Congressman Tom Lantos today at the International Campaign for Tibet.
