Authorities Expel Shapten Monks for Having Relatives Overseas in Nagchu District in Tibet


Six monks from Shapten Monastery, Nagchu District were expelled for allegedly have relatives overseas. Those who have relatives in India were not allowed to enter monastic life. When the monastery admitted about 60 monks, officials said after the probation period of one year, residence permit would be issued. Hover, it has been more than two years the residence permit has not been issued, according to two monks from the monastery.
