The Houses of the British Parliament raised Tibet issue in their discussions on Jan. 8 and Jan. 10, 2008. In an answer to Mr Norman Baker, a Tibet supporter, who asked as to what steps Britain government is taking to encourage the Chinese government to adhere to pledges it has made in respect of human rights and press freedom, with particular reference to occupied Tibet, Mr. Meg Munn, Deputy Secretary of State said that Britiain had encouraged Chinese government to fulfil their human rights oblighations across China, including Tibet at every level of talks.. Mr. Baker alleged that China has its martial law still in place in the Tibetan monasteries. Mr. Munn had told Memers of the Parliament that Britiain would again raise Tibet issue at the upcoming UK-China Human Rights Dialogue that is scheduled later this month.
