Tibetan writer Tsering Woeser based in Beijing was conferred a Silver Medal by the Association of Tibetan Journalists on December 17, 07 for her courageous writings on China's repressions in Tibet. The award ceremony was held this morning in Dharmsala and chief guest Mr. Thubtan Samphell, Secretary, Department of Information and International Relations, gave a brief speech on the journalistic responsibilities. A thank-you letter from Tsering Woeser was read at the gathering. The Norwegian Authors Union also presented the Tibetan writer "Freedom of Expression Prize for 2007." The Union cited, "It is very clear to us that by giving this prize to Tsering Woeser we have found a female author that are in the middle of one of the most important struggle for freedom of expression in our time."
