While last week’s Live broadcast of the award ceremony focused on the events that took place inside the Capital Rotunda, this week’s Kunleng looks at the Dalai Lama’s speech to the public gathering on the West Lawn and the festivities surrounding the Gold Medal Award.
Reporters Pasang Yankyi and Gyaltsen Tsering will join the two hosts in reporting on the event by giving both a wider perspective on the Gold Medal and it’s impact on Tibetan society and beyond, as well as showing some poignant interviews that they conducted both in the Rotunda and the West Lawn during the events. These interviews with non-Buddhist priests, Mongolian and Himalayan representatives, as well as Arjia Rinpoche, a very well known spiritual master from Amdo who runs the Tibetan Center in Bloomington IN, will give viewers a wide range of insights into what the Gold Medal means to a variety of people.
