Kungleng TV: Unicode Tibetan Drives Tibetans Online

Real Player Windows Media

In keeping with the trends of this day and age of technology, Tibetans are able to manupulate the online experience more fully using their own language. Much credit of the Tibetan usage online goes to the Tibetan Unicode in window vista. With Windows XP, more languages and locals were supported and multilingual User Interface (MUI) was improved. Windows Vista fully supports entering and displaying Unicode Tibetan right out of the box - no additional software needs to be installed - thus creating more Tibetans and Tibetan users to develope new websites and softwares. Today's Kunleng TV program invites Ven. Lobsang Monlam, creator of Monlam Tibetan font from Dharamsala, India. and Mr. Thupten Tserig, VOA Tibetan Service's experienced webmaster to talk about implementation of Tibetan Unicode, Tibetan web page and blog development, Tibetan capable search engine, and bugs in Tibetan language features of Windows Vista.

Kunleng is simulcast on television via satellite, on shortwave radio, and via the Internet in real time. Tune in every Wednesday at 1400-1500 UTC, 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm Lhasa time. Call us live during the program with your comments and questions: From Tibet and China Call toll-free 10810 866 837 5159
