Tibetans mourned the death of Italian opera singer and His Holiness the Dalai Lama has sent a message of Condolence to his family in Italy.The Tibetan Children's Village in Dharmshala and Silakue offered prayers for the late opera singer who had special relations with students from those schools. Pavarotti made a significant contribution to a number of Tibetan humanitarian causes, and once raised one million dollars for the Tibetan Children's Village College Project with some of his friends.
Already famous in the world of opera, Pavarotti leaped to global superstardom when he joined opera stars Plácido Domingo and José Carreras to perform as "The Three Tenors" during the 1990 soccer World Cup in Italy.
Pavarotti was born in Modena, Italy in 1935. Years of practice and instruction paid off when he won a singing contest in 1961 and was offered a role in a production of Puccini's opera "La Boheme." He made his first major operatic appearance in London in 1963, and debuted at New York's Metropolitan Opera five years later.
