Dalai Lama's Representatives To Visit China

Aides to Tibetan Buddhism's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, say a delegation of his representatives is planning to travel to China on Friday.

A statement from the Dalai Lama's office in Dharamsala, India says the two main envoys Special Envoy Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari and Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen received instructions from the Dalai Lama Thursday.

Chinese troops took control of Tibet in 1950. The Dalai Lama left Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against China's rule.

Representatives of the Dalai Lama occasionally meet with Chinese government officials in Beijing to discuss issues concerning Tibetan autonomy and the spiritual leader's possible return to Tibet.
