"Tenshug" is an important Tibetan Buddhist ritual that expresses devotion to and appreciation of a specific spiritual leader. Last week's Tenshug ceremony in Dharamshala took on a special meaning.

While the elaborate ritual ceremony took place in Dharamshala, a small hill town on the Indian side of the Himalayas, thousands of Tibetans inside Tibet also indirectly joined the prayers as Tibetan-owned shops were closed and Tibetans jammed the streets of Barkor to burn incense and make spiritual offerings. Chinese authorities in the TAR sent out special orders to all government workers to warn them not to participate in the activities.

The program also include exlusive interview with Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, the main figure in last week's Tenshog ceremony as well as one of the most important Tibetan religious leaders.

VOA Tibetan TV "Kunleng" invites Ven. Jigme Rinpoche and Mr. Tsering Dondup, Secretary of the Dept. Cultural and Religion Affairs of the Central Tibetan Administration from Dharamshala, to talk about the Tenshug ceremony, its religion nuances and political implications in these political times.
