Sherpa Guide Sets Everest Climb Record

A Nepali Sherpa guide has scaled Mount Everest for the 16th time, breaking his own world record.

Forty-six-year-old Apa Sherpa reached the eight-thousand-850-meter summit of the world's highest mountain Friday while leading a group of international climbers.

The South Col route from Nepal that Apa took was pioneered by New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay in 1953.
