The Special Envoy of H.H. the Dalai Lama, Kasur Lodi Gyari, who had returned to Washington, D.C. from an extended stay in India, had a meeting with Under Secretary Paula Dobriansky on May 5, 2006 at the State Department. Under Secretary Dobriansky is the US Special Envoy for Tibetan Issues. He got a briefing on the recent visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Washington, D.C.
Special Envoy Lodi Gyari also attended the anniversary of the National Day of Prayer at the White House on May 4, 2006.
