Mr. Hu will visit the U.S. from April 18 to 21. He is due at the White House April 20. He and President Bush are expected to discuss a number of trade issues.
The U.S. government has been pressuring China to revalue its currency and further open its markets to foreign goods. The two are also expected to discuss the international war on terror, among other issues.
The Chinese president will also visit Seattle and is scheduled to give a speech at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
It will be Mr. Hu's second visit to the U.S. since he became Chinese president in 2003.
