Elections for the Tibetan Exile Assembly have now concluded. While the results have yet to be determined, the elections have already spawned debate within the Tibetan diaspora communities.
This week, the VOA Tibetan television broadcast will invite two youths to the program to discuss topics ranging from problems of the electoral system to the question of whether an effective democratic political system can be established in an exile community.
In the DC studio Thupten Norbu, a graduate from the College of the Atlantic in Maine, and from the NY studio, Tenzin Dorje, a Tibetan youth activist and graduate of Brown University, will provide a look at the democratic process in exile from the viewpoint of a new Tibetan generation.
