Dalai Lama Encourages Hurricane Victims


Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, says Hurricane Katrina survivors will need determination to overcome the tragedy.

In an interview on U.S. television CNN late Sunday, the Dalai Lama offered encouragement to those affected by the hurricane, and advised them to minimize their mental suffering in order to build their futures more effective
The exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader, who is on a 20-day U.S. visit, also gave a speech in the western state of Idaho Sunday to discuss the hurricane and mark the anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks in the United States.

Last week, the Dalai Lama pledged 100-thousand dollars toward the U.S. administration's hurricane relief efforts
