Tibet's spiritual leader in exile, the Dalai Lama, says he is shocked and deeply saddened by the massive destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.
In a message to President Bush, the Dalai Lama said the Tibetan people share the immense suffering and terrible losses that the victims have had to endure.
He also pledged a contribution of 100-thousand dollars toward the U.S. administration's relief efforts.
The message also said special prayers will be offered by large congregations of monks and nuns.
