Kirti Monk Beaten And Hospitalized After Staging Solo Protest

A Tibetan monk is in critical condition after being arrested and beaten by Chinese police for staging a solo protest on October 17, 2016.

According to sources, Lobsang Tsultrim of Kirti monastery in Ngaba, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province (traditional Tibet province of Amdo) was arrested after he carried a portrait of the Dalai Lama on the main street, and was later detained in an unknown location where he was severely beaten by the authorities that led to his hospitalization the following day.

The Ngaba region has been the epicenter of Tibetan resistance in the recent times with many of the self-immolators and solo protesters hailing from the region.
