Dalai Lama Receives Warm Welcome in Ladakh


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama arrived in Leh, Ladakh on July 25, where he received warm welcome at the airport led by Dr. Sonam Dawa, Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council and Gaden Tripa Ridzong Sras Rinpoche.

Thikse Rinpoche, Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche, and Druk Thuksey Rinpoche were also present at the airport to receive the Dalai Lama, along with men and women in their traditional attires, and school children, who lined up 15 km long route from airport to Jevitsal (His Holiness’ Palace) holding flowers and offerings to show their devotion.

“During his month long stay in Ladakh till August 21, His Holiness will take a complete rest. He will attend the first day of the Thikse Religious Gathering (Yarchoe Chenmo) on August 11 and will give a public discourse from August 19-21, 2016,” says Tseten Wangchuk, the Chief Representative Officer (CRO) of Tibetan settlements in Ladakh.
