The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India, Shri Kiren Rijiju attended the 81st birthday celebration of the Dalai Lama as the chief guest of the function held at Samyeling Tibetan Colony, Majnu ka Tila, Delhi on July 6, 2016.
The Union Minister was warmly received by the Tibetan community led by the representative of the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, Mr. Tenpa Tsering.
After the formal religious and cultural programs, the chief guest addressed the gathering and wished his holiness a long life on his birthday. "This auspicious occasion is not only for Tibetans, but for Indian society, and global community to wish him happy birthday and long live," said Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.
The minister, to people's surprise, sat around for over two hours at the program under the unbearable heat and humid weather condition of Delhi.
