Drikung Kyabgon Confers Empowerment of Drikung Phowa Chenmo in Ladakh

Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, the throne holder of Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism conferred Drikung Phowa Chenmo (the great Drikung transference of consciousness at the time of death) empowerment to a gathering of around 100,000 devotees in Leh, Ladakh.

The 4-day teaching by Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche was held from June 18 - 21, 2106. "The Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism is known for lineage of Phowa teachings and a major teaching festival of Phowa is traditionally held once in every Monkey Year. 2016 is monkey year according to Tibetan calendar of twelve-year cycle." says Khenpo Rangdol, an attendant of Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche.

All the offices, schools, shops including the government offices were closed during the time of teachings in Leh, Ladakh.
