The Regional Tibetan Woman's Association of Bir, located in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh organized a prayer service to mark fourth week since Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, a highly respected Tibetan Buddhist leader passed away in a Chinese prison on July 12, 2015.

"Around 70 Tibetans were present at the special service for Tulku Tenzin Delek. Prayers were performed to improve the current situation inside Tibet, especially in Rinpoche's hometown of Lithang where conditions remain tense," said Norphel, President of RTWA Bir through a phone interview.

Tsering Gyal, Tibetan Researcher at Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) based in Dharamsala, said that the local Tibetans in Lithang area are barred from visiting Tulku Tenzin Delek's monastery to pay respect, and the Chinese government have forcibly taken away the ashes given to his followers saying its an order from the Central.

Gyal added that TCHRD received information that Tulku Tenzin Delek's sister, Dolkar Lhamo and her daughter have been released on July 30 since their arrest on July 17, but have not been allowed to connect with anyone outside family members since then by barring their phone connections.

RTWA Bir have organized signature campaigns and written to international bodies to press China to solve the crisis in Tibet, while conducting a transparent investigation into Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's sudden death.
