Buddhist Practice of Nyungne


Khenpo Jampa Tenphel, Resident Buddhist teacher at the Sakya Buddhist Center in Seattle, Washington explains the Buddhist practice of fasting. (Nyungne in Tibetan) He says that Nyungne is a popular purification practice in Tibetan Buddhism. One set of Nyungne consists of two days, where the first day is considered the preliminary practice and the second day as the actual fasting and purification day.
