Exposure to air pollution significantly increases the risk of stroke. Researchers found even moderate air pollution, generally from vehicle traffic, was linked to anxiety and strokes, according to a large global study published in the British Medical Journal. “This study now demonstrates that even short-term exposure to air pollution can trigger disabling strokes or death from stroke,” said Dr. Anoop Shah, lead author of the study, according to BBC. He said unlike smoking or high blood pressure, which also increases risks of strokes, the air pollution is exposed to general public.
