A Tibetan man has set himself on fire in Amchok town of Sangchu County, Kanlho Prefecture, Gansu Province on December 16, 2014.
Sangyal Khar, 34 died after self-immolating outside the police station in Amchok around 9am local time.
A source tells VOA that Khar's body was taken to Sangchu County by the paramilitary police. The body has not been returned to Khar's family despite repeated appeal by the local Tibetans.
Khar becomes the 134th Tibetan since 2009 to set himself on fire to protest China's repressive policies towards Tibetans. Majority of the self-immolators have called for return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet and freedom for Tibetans, while some have left behind written notes.
