Tibet's capital city of Lhasa celebrated the 100th year of a well known Tibetan artist from September 10 to 15, 2014.

Amdo Jampa, also known as Jampa Tseten was born in Chentsa, Qinghai Province in the year 1914. He was best-known for taking photo-realistic style, and executing the famous portraits of the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama.

Jampa was the first Tibetan artist to study at a Chinese art college. His thangka paintings were widely circulated inside Tibet, and are said to have influenced contemporary Tibetan painting.

In the memory of Amdo Jampa's 100th birth anniversary, his art work was displayed in an exhibition in Lhasa for six days, to celebrate his life and achievements.
