TIPA Marks 55th Anniversary by Paying Tribute to Dalai Lama


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) based in Dharamsala, northern India commemorated its 55th founding anniversary by paying tribute to the Dalai Lama, during their annual cultural competition between the two troupes, Gyalu and Ngonpa on September 8, 2014.

Tsering Yankey, Director of TIPA recalled all the people who have been a part of this institution, and paid respect to their work in preserving Tibetan culture.

Lobsang Sangay, head of the Tibetan Administration in exile, who was present at the ceremony thanked the institute for its work in preserving and promoting the Tibetan performing tradition.

The institute honored one of its oldest members and opera master Sonam Phuntsok for his 38 years of service with TIPA as a student, artiste, and teacher.
