State of Tibetan Democracy in Exile: Challenges and Prospects

ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

Exile Tibetans everywhere observed and celebrated the birth of Tibetan Democracy Day in Exile, on September 2, 2014. On this day 54 years ago in 1960, the first members of the Tibetan parliament in exile took their oaths of office.

Since the establishment of democracy, and the rule of law as the basic tenet of administration and governance, Tibetans in exile were able to achieve numerous democratic milestones. There still, however remains many challenges and issues to be tackled.

VOA Tibetan's Table Talk invites Gelek Jamyang, President of the National Democractic Party of Tibet and Tenzin Nyinjey, Researcher at the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy, to discuss the challenges and prospects of democracy in exile.
