Han Fangming, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committe of the CPPCC National Committe wrote an opinion piece on the significance of preserving and reforming Tibetan buddhist monastic education to achieve region stability, which was published on August 18, 2014.
Fangming in his post talked about the history of Tibetan Buddhism, where monasteries were not only the political, economic, and culture center, but also the educational center for the Tibetan people.
Since monastic education system exerted a profound impact for the development of Tibetan culture, he wrote about the importance of letting Tibetans practice this century old tradition to achieve Tibetan social and political stability along with ethnic harmony.
