The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) based in Dharamsala, northern India issued a press release to reveal a secret Chinese document on Tibetans killed by Chinese security forces during the March 2008 protests in Tibet's capital city of Lhasa using machine guns on August 21, 2014.

The press release stated that the document titled, "Document of the Criminal and Medical Examination Department of the Public Security Bereau, Lhasa" was prepared on March 21, 2008 which contains documents that reveal the Chinese security forces killing Tibetans in Lhasa during the initial protest in the area seven years ago, which ultimately ignited the 2008 uprising carried out in many areas of the Tibetan plateau.

Tsering Gyal, a researcher at TCHRD says that the documents clearly reveal the fact that there were no less than 101 Tibetans shot during the Lhasa protests.

He further shared the document which contains in detail the names and ages of the Tibetans killed by security forces, the number of wounds, the places where the protesters were killed in Lhasa and nearby places whose bodies were kept at Lhasa's Xishuan mortuary.

TCHRD is a non governmental human rights association based in Dharamsala, Northern India which was established in January 1996.
