Tibetan Leaders Vow to Fight Drug Abuse

Kunphen, a non-government organization (NGO) based in Dharamsala, north India that provides treatment programs for alcohol and drug abuse held a panel discussion on August 6, 2014 to discuss the best solution to fight related issues in the community.

The Panel discussion was attended by family members of drug and alcohol addicts along with NGO and community leaders.

Dawa Tsering, Member of Parliament and head of Kunphen, shared the depth of the problem which effects the Tibetan society, and stressed the need for every member in the society to take shared responsibilities.

Thinley Palmo, Deputy Secretary at Department of Health applauded the gathering of family and counselors, and said that the best way to fight would be to look into the root cause of such habits.

People gathered at the discussion shared their experiences and views on how best to tackle the recognized problem.
