In order to repay the kindness of the Dalai Lama to the Tibetan people, Samyeling Tibetan Colony in Delhi, India have decided to observe every Wednesday as 'Vegetarian Day' for a year starting from this year to the next year's birth anniversary of their spiritual leader.

"Wednesday is considered an auspicious day for the Dalai Lama. The people of Samyeling Tibetan colony have decided to observe Wednesday as vegetarian-day for one year. During that period, all the guest houses and restaurants in the colony will only serve vegetarian dishes, which will help save lives of many animals and certainly fulfill the wish for the long life of the Dalai Lama," says Camp Leader Karten Tsering.

Tsering further added that the Indians and Nepalese staying in the Tibetan colony have happily welcomed the idea to observe it.

There are around 100 restaurants and guest houses in the Tibetan colony, Majnu Tila, Delhi.
