Interview with Ngawang Yonten, Special Assistant, Office of Tibet, Washington, D.C. on the upcoming events to be organized by the Office of Tibet, starting with the just-publicized announcement on an Essay Contest for young Tibetans in North America on the topic: “What Does the Dalai Lama Mean To Me?” Yonten said that the Essay Contest is open to any Tibetan in North America, ages 18-35, with the deadline being October 1, 2014. The essay can be written in any of the three languages – Tibetan, English, or Chinese. Yonten also said that the Office of Tibet makes extra effort to reach out to the younger generation via the social media, and their programs such as the workshops on Introducing Buddhism, Conferences of Tibetan language teachers and executive members of the 30 Tibetan Associations in North America at the end of August.
