Researchers found that adults who were diagnosed with cancer and treated about 20 years ago are more likely to develop serious health issues because of toxics that went into their system. The study, which was carried out by the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, said those who were treated later might have less risk due the improvement of the treatment. “Because the risk for many adverse outcomes related to dose, we anticipate that the prevalence of some conditions will be lower among more recently treated survivors who received less intensive therapy,” said Melissa Hudson, MD, Director of the St. Jude Division of Cancer Survivorship and co-author of the study, according ton Cancer.org Sources: MedicineNet.com; Cancer.org
