Challenges and Issues Facing Disabled Kids in the Tibetan Community
There are a sizeable number of disabled people in the Tibetan community. While the general condition of those people are comparatively decent, still there are many issues that the general public as well as the parents of the disabled need to pay attention to. In the exile Tibetan community, there are three specialized schools that cater to the needs of people with mental and physical impairments, however, not all the physically impaired get admission to these specialized schools. Table Talk invites Ngawang Lhamo, Director of Nyingtop Ling, Dharamsala, Khube Rinpoche, Director of Karuna Home, Bhlakuppe to discuss the challenges and issues concerning disabled people in the Tibetan community and how best to tackle it.
