Increasing Number of Intermarriages between Chinese and Tibetan: Causes and Consequences

There are an increasing number of intermarriages between Tibetans and Chinese in different parts of Tibet. The issue is especially acute in many parts of U-tsang region of Tibet. According to information from many sources, Chinese men are taking hundreds of Tibetan women every year to different parts of China in the name of marriages or better likelihood, but many of them ultimately end-up in very difficult situations. Table Talk invites Tsering Dorjee, Secretary of the Representative Office, Taiwan, to discuss the causes and the consequences of this trend.
