A new study has found that young children who drink soda show signs of aggression and those who drink four or more sodas a day reveal attention problem and withdrawn behaviors. What is previously known is that soft drink consumption is associated with aggression, depression, and suicidal thoughts in adolescents, but it is first time the relationship has been evaluated in younger children. Dr. Shakira Suglia at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health in New York City who conducted the study with her colleagues told Healthy Lifestyle program of VOA that the study does not know whether the effect is for long term or if reduction of soda intake will reduce the above mentioned problems.
